Disruptive Stability

This strange quantum causality entails the disruption of discontinuity/continuity, a disruption so destabilising, so downright dizzying,
that it is difficult to believe that it is that which makes for the stability of existence itself.

-Karen Barad-

LIGHT MATTER MIND's installations are influenced by the concept of Agential Realism, proposed by quantum physicist and philosopher Karen Barad. Her perspective challenges the idea of separate entities and instead emphasises the interconnectedness and dynamic nature of existence through the concept of intra-action.

In the installations, the boundaries between different entities such as 'organic matter', 'inorganic matter' and light are blurred to highlight their coexistence and interaction. This visual dissolution of traditional distinctions encourages viewers to see the world as a complex web of relationships and influences, where all material things play a role in shaping our reality.

By revealing the creative power inherent in all matter, the installations invite us to consider the often overlooked contributions of the material world to our lived experience. This perspective encourages a deeper appreciation of the interdependence of all things and their influence in shaping our understanding of the world around us.
